Thomson Reuters’s ONESOURCE Property Tax continues to extend our SaaS model for delivering innovative and efficient tools for managing property tax for corporations and consultants.  Thomson Reuters continued to release new functions in a browser-based software through 2011.  This makes ONESOURCE Property Tax available anywhere, anytime for end users.  It also means that the software is available for end-customers who rely on consultants and accountants to perform property tax functions.  This approach benefits the service provider and consumer with real-time information and interactive workflows.

At the end of 2011, Thomson Reuters also introduced “Centers” into ONESOURCE Property Tax.  Centers are role-based collections of tools including data grids, ad hoc reporting, and tax processes that allow users to work day-to-day in an intuitive, streamlined user interface.  Users focused on functions like processing asset-based returns will work primarily in the Asset Center.  Those working on tax bills and assessment will find everything they need in the Tax Center.  Workflows, including managing co-sourced service arrangements, are integrated into the Workflow Center.  Summer 2012 will see the completion of the Appeal Center, fully integrating and improving on existing property tax appeal tools and reporting.

The latest release of ONESOURCE Property Tax includes Workflows and Document Processing tools for corporate and consulting customers.  These tools allow users to track individual tasks assigned to a person or to a team.  Each task is tracked through the system and triggers the next step in the process automatically.  Managers and customers can view task statuses throughout the system on a single screen.

Initial workflows supported include document scanning, assessment processing, and tax bill processing tools.  Scan Manager permits users to batch-process the high volumes of documents inherent to property tax with minimal handling and presorts.  Documents are automatically presented to users for entry or verification by an intelligent “traffic cop” engine.  This ensures that documents are prioritized appropriately and presented in logical grouping for maximum efficiency.  The system also validates data for assessment and tax bills by comparing it to prior year date, expected data, or system information.  These validation cues follow the document through the workflow from entry to verification through approver.  The Workflow Center’s framework is built to expand in the future to other property tax functions like appeals and return processing.

This combination of automation and intuitive interfaces ensures ONESOURCE Property Tax will continue to be the preferred solution for the corporate property tax payers and service providers alike.  Whether you’re managing a large or small department, these solutions offer the right combination of usability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
